Week of October 27th

It's wrap up time! Time to turn in any late work and finish the Top Three Reasons project. Here is what we did in class this week along with any reminders.

CLASS FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 27TH
Hagan Ahora #8: Rate yourself in Spanish class (1 being the worst, 10 being the best). Is all of your work turned in? Are you on task during class? Are you participating during class? Does Ms. Anne have to remind you about your behavior? Why?

Essential Question: How to review current situations and reevaluate for better progress.

Aim: To understand expectations and your current progress for the course.

Tarea (Homework): #1 (new quarter, start new homework #s) Bring a picture of someone or something you would like to honor for next class (Due next class).

What We Did: We finished up presentation for the Top Three Reasons project as well as collected any more late work.

REMINDERS:
Late work due: October 29th for classes 7AE, 7C, 7B, 6A, and 6B
October 31st for classes 7BE, 6CE, and 6DE.

Some work that still could be out....
Hagan Ahora Project or 5 Hagan Ahora
Top Three Reasons to Learn Spanish Project
HW#3- What grade would you give yourself on your project and why? Did you do more of the work than others in your group? Did you spend extra time going above and beyond? Let me know what you think.

Participation:
Just as a reminder, I also grade everyone on their participation in class. If you are own task, contributing to conversation, and not disrupting, then this should be an easy opportunity to get 100% on this portion of your grade. If not, this could be a bit of a downfall for your grade. If you are concerned about this portion of your grade, please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Ms. Anne

Below is a summary for what has been going on Spanish class but you can also check on your son or daughters grade online as well at snapgrades.net. However, grades may not be 100% up to date so please feel free to e-mail me with any questions, concerns, or comments at ms.anne.watson@gmail.com. In general, I respond to e-mails within 48 hours during the week. Also, feel free to have your student e-mail me homework. It is another easy way to make sure they complete their homework on time. Now on to school!

Presentations, presentations, presentations... catch up?

This week has been filled with presentations and catch up. Each class is on their own schedule so please be sure to look for your class when finding out your homework. As of now, every class is working on or has completed Top Three Reasons to Learn Spanish project. Some classes have already started presentations while some classes (6CE and 6DE) will start presenting next Monday. In either case, all classes will finish this project by the end of next week. If you have forgotten what the assignment was, here is a link to fill you in. As always, if you are confused, email or talk to me at school.

LAST DAY FOR LATE WORK!!!!!
Classes 7BE, 6CE, and 6DE: Friday, October 31st.
Classes 6A, 6B, 7AE, 7C, and 7D: Wednesday, October 29th.

HAGAN AHORA (Do Now)
At the beginning of each class we always have an exercise to do. Even though we have had more than five classes, I am only asking to collect five for this quarter. Next quarter I will not be as nice. If you do not have all five or any, below is the make up assignment. However, class 7D lost that privileged this last Wednesday, October 22nd by not being able to settle down to do the days lesson. If you have questions or concerns about this decision, please feel free to contact me.

The due date is October 29th for every class except 7BE, 6CE, and 6DE. Their due date is October 31st.

HW #3- All Classes except 7D
Write one to two paragraphs about what grade you think you deserve on the Top Three Reasons to Learn Spanish project. Remember, this is your opportunity to tell me how much work you did in comparison to your other group members or how little you did.

HW #3- Class 7D (All classes are welcome to do this in addition, but not required)
Taking one to three of your top three reasons to learn Spanish from your project, please artistically/graphically (draw, cut out pictures...) represent your reason.
Requirements:
  • It must be in color
  • The reason must be written on the artwork
  • The artwork must have detail (ie you spent time on it)
For example, if one of my top reasons to learn Spanish was to travel, then I could have a picture with a plane, a globe, and different Spanish speaking countries' flags. This is just an idea. Use your imagination.

That is it for now. Enjoy the rest of your week and I will see you at school!
Ms. Anne

Week of October 14th

Top Three Reasons and Progress Reports

Top Three Reasons to Learn Spanish Report
Classes 6A, 6B, 7AE, 7BE, 7C, and 7D (Classes 6CE and 6DE next class)

Each group is responsible for coming up with three reasons why it is important to learn Spanish. Then they are to come up with a justification (why that reason is important) for that reason with three to five strong sentences (think paragraph). Lastly, the group needs to explain why each reason pertains (has importance to you) to you.

Each group will be responsible for presenting in front of the class. Remember that each student must speak at some point during the presentation.

The total project is worth twenty points and below is the grading scale for the project.

PROGRESS REPORTS

Just as a reminder, you can turn in any of your work at any point in time. However, I will take off a point or two for being late, depending on the situation and quality of work I receive. These progress reports are to see what you are missing and to get it into me as soon as possible!

Information Sheet, Spanish Assessment, and Student Survey- A link to the WS is on this page or talk to me during school.

HW #1- Write a paragraph about what you expect of a good teacher.

HW#2- Write or draw (and explain) why it is important to be organized.

Journal Reflection(s)- Instead of commenting on the journal reflection that we did in class, please respond to this new question in order to receive credit.
How do you think you are doing so far in class? Is there something else you would like to do in class? What would you like to do more or less of during class? Let me know what you think of Spanish class.

REMINDER: All Hagan Ahora will be collected this upcoming week. Be prepared. If you are missing some, an alternative assignment will be assigned.

Week of September 22nd

Chris Brown, Rihanna, Barack Ombama, John McCain... oh my! This week was all about introducing new vocabulary in a fun and entertaining way. The next few weeks we will be focusing on learning greetings, introductions, asking and saying how we feel, and conveying where we are from. Plus, just as I did the skit with the puppets, you can look forward to doing similar skits for the class with your new vocabulary. As for now, keep reviewing the new vocabulary words we reviewed in class.

Homework: HW #3 Review and study the new vocabulary words.

Journal Response/Exit Slip: #1 What did you like or dislike about the lesson? How would you improve the lesson? Is there anything you are still confused on?

Next Class: Mini quiz on new vocabulary after in class review.

Week of September 15th

Organization, organization, organization! That is the theme for this week. In class you will be receiving the Hagan Ahora (Do Now) worksheet along with the Tarea log (Homework Log) for Spanish class.

  3. Don't forget to write your new homework on your homework log.
